Join the CYPRES 2026 Workshop in Lisbon: Call for Papers Now Open

We invite researchers, innovators, and practitioners to contribute to the 2nd Workshop on Cyber-Physical Resilience and Security Against Digital Breakdowns (CYPRES), held in conjunction with the IEEE Conference on Cyber Security and Resilience. The workshop will take place in person in Lisbon, Portugal, from August 3–5, 2026.

CYPRES 2026 offers a unique platform to explore how critical infrastructures—such as energy, transport, communications, and public services—can better withstand and recover from digital disruptions, whether caused by cyberattacks, system failures, or natural hazards.

Why Participate?

Modern societies rely on highly interconnected systems, where disruptions can trigger cascading effects across sectors. Recent large-scale incidents, including widespread power outages, have demonstrated the urgent need for resilient and secure cyber-physical infrastructures.

CYPRES brings together experts from academia, industry, and policy to:

  • Share cutting-edge research and real-world applications
  • Address cyber-physical resilience in the context of smart cities
  • Explore links between digital failures and climate-driven hazards
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaboration across sectors

This year’s workshop is further strengthened through collaboration with initiatives such as SPARROW and MedEWSa, integrating multi-hazard early warning systems, climate resilience, and crisis management into the cyber-physical security domain.

Topics of Interest

Authors are encouraged to submit original, unpublished papers on topics including:

  • Cybersecurity, anomaly detection, and threat mitigation
  • Interdependencies and cascading effects in critical infrastructures
  • Crisis communication and emergency response systems
  • Digital twins, simulations, and scenario modelling
  • Risk assessment and impact analysis
  • Policy, governance, and ethical aspects of resilience
  • Use cases, pilot projects, and living labs in disaster management

Keynote Highlight

The workshop will feature a keynote by José Palma-Oliveira, Professor at the University of Lisbon, who will address the challenges of measuring and understanding resilience in complex systems and communities.

Important Dates

  • Paper submission deadline: April 13, 2026
  • Notification to authors: May 4, 2026
  • Camera-ready papers & author registration: May 25, 2026
  • Workshop date: August 4, 2026 (TBC)

Submission Guidelines

Submissions should be up to 6 pages (with up to 2 additional pages allowed for a fee) and will undergo peer review. Accepted papers will be published in the official IEEE proceedings and submitted to IEEE Xplore, subject to quality requirements.

When submitting your paper, please select the CYPRES workshop track (2T6) within the conference system and follow the official IEEE CSR author guidelines.
