First BioClima Newsletter published: Looking back at year one of EU–China climate and biodiversity cooperation

As a partner of the BioClima project, Plan4all is pleased to share that the first issue of the BioClima Newsletter is now available online.

Newsletter 1 reflects on the first year of the BioClima project and introduces the core ideas behind its work. It highlights how BioClima brings together climate and biodiversity monitoring by combining Earth observation data, in-situ measurements, artificial intelligence and real-world pilot activities implemented across Europe and China.

What you will find in Newsletter 1

Rather than providing exhaustive technical detail, the newsletter focuses on key milestones and themes from the project’s initial phase, including:

  • the official launch of BioClima and the first EU–China coordination meetings,
  • progress in developing a shared and interoperable monitoring framework, aligned with international standards,
  • early pilot activities, including the Czech pilot site entering its operational phase,
  • BioClima’s participation in international expert forums and conferences,
  • strengthening cooperation between European and Chinese partners and the growth of an international research network,
  • an overview of European and Chinese use cases, covering forests, agriculture, coastal zones and other ecosystems.

The newsletter also introduces the BioClima consortium, which brings together 37 organisations from Europe and China, and outlines what lies ahead as the project moves into its next implementation phase.
