Prague INSPIRE Hackathon 2020

The Prague INSPIRE Hackathon 2020 was held from 27th to 29th January 2020 at the Faculty of Economics and Management, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (ČZU). This event focused on leveraging Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs), Earth Observation (EO), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to drive advancements in rural and regional development, agriculture, and transportation.
🎯 Objectives
- Promote the utilisation of Digital Innovation Hubs in agriculture and transport sectors.
- Foster the development of innovative solutions using AI and EO data.
- Encourage collaboration among stakeholders to address challenges in rural and regional development.
🧩 Hackathon Structure
The hackathon was organised in three stages:
- Call for Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs): DIH owners were invited to register their hubs and submit up to three challenges for participants to tackle.
- Remote Stage (2nd December 2019 – 12th January 2020): Participants formed teams and worked virtually on the submitted challenges.
- In-Situ Stage (27th – 29th January 2020): Teams convened at ČZU to finalise their projects, present results, and participate in the awards ceremony.
🏆 Challenges and Winners
A total of 13 challenges were addressed during the hackathon. The top three projects recognised by the jury were:
- 1st Place: Using AI algorithms for defining boundaries of agriculture fields on the base of Sentinel 2 Images

These projects showcased innovative applications of AI and EO data in agriculture, contributing to more efficient and sustainable practices.
