Lisbon INSPIRE Hackathon 2019

The Lisbon INSPIRE Hackathon 2019 was held from 20 June to 3 July 2019 in Lisbon, Portugal, as part of the EuroGEOSS Workshop and the NextGEOSS Summit. This event focused on leveraging Earth observation data in marine activities to benefit users across the public and private sectors.

🎯 Objectives

  • Explore synergies across projects and initiatives related to ocean observations.
  • Transform ocean-related data into actionable information for various stakeholders.
  • Foster networking opportunities among participants to address societal challenges identified by the EuroGEOSS workshop.

🧩 Hackathon Structure

  • 20 June: Kick-off webinar introducing challenges and sparking creativity.
  • 20–30 June: Virtual hackathon phase with team formation and idea development.
  • 1 July: Participation in the NextGEOSS Summit in Lisbon.
  • 2 July: Onsite hackathon with expert guidance from organisations like DEIMOS, Terradue, Datopian, and UAB.
  • 3 July: Final presentations and summary of results at DEIMOS offices in Lisbon.
